Self-adhering tape comprised of a rubberized asphalt waterproofing membrane laminated to a geotextile layer of nonwoven polypropylene on one side and a release paper on the other
Precon Fabric Tape is used around pipe penetrations and end laps. The product can also be used on terminations, top edges of vertical, and perimeter terminations on horizontal surfaces.
Application: Remove the release paper before applying it. Use firm hand pressure to ensure PRECON-FABRIC TAPE is secured to the surface and will not peel. Only remove as much release paper as needed to properly apply the material. For best adhesion, MEL-PRIME or MEL-PRIME W/B from W. R. MEADOWS is recommended.
Penetrations and Protrusions: Detail around all horizontal and vertical penetrations using MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE (two-component) from W. R. MEADOWS. Apply MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE by forming a fillet around the pipe or protrusion, overlapping the fabric side of PRECON and the protrusion a minimum of 2 ½ ” (64 mm). If the gap between the protrusion and the membrane is greater than ½ ” (13 mm), apply PRECON FABRIC TAPE over the fully-cured MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE (minimum 24 hours cure required). All penetration and protrusion surfaces must be clean, rust-free, and sound before applying MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE.
End Laps: At terminations of PRECON, apply 12″ (30.48 cm) wide area of PRECON FABRIC TAPE with 6″ (15.2 cm) on each side of the lap edge. For best results, use MEL-PRIME adhesive over 12″ (30.48 cm) area before applying the tape.
Patching: Before placing concrete into the area, inspect PRECON membrane for punctures or damage and repair as necessary with POINTING MASTIC from W. R. MEADOWS and/or additional PRECON FABRIC TAPE.
